Buck Blunder 1 - Buck Martinez calls everything a little looper. A little looper should be a short looping ball that the OF or IF will have to make a really good play to get it.

Top of the 2nd inning, Buck said “The sun has come up”. The sunrise is at about 7:20pm in Baltimore? Doesn’t mean the sun came “out”, not “up”.

  2. Anonymous says:

On the first out of the bottom of 1st, Buck again said “Carnacion” got the out.

“The snaps an 8 straight game streak where the opponent has scored first.” Hey Buck, you do realize that the word “straight” doesn’t belong in that sentence, don’t you? It just makes your sentence hard to understand as any streak already means a string of consecutive games.

just say 8 straight games or 8 game streak… don’t combine it into something that makes no sense!

In the bottom of 3rd, Buck was complaining that everything in the game since he has played now favors the hitters. He said that back in his playing days, deliberately hitting batters was part of the game so batters knew how to get out of the way. He then said that everything in baseball has been “legislated” in favor of the batters because pitchers will get ejected for throwing at batters and that the strike zone is now smaller because of the use of Pitch Tracker etc.

Ummm no Buck, the official strike zone has gotten bigger since you played and has always went up to the “midpoint’. It now also goes down to the bottom of the batter’s knees. And realisticly, the umpires back in your playing day weren’t calling strikes above the waist. This means that the strike zone is bigger than before, so how has everything changed in favor of the hitters?

bottom of the 4th, Buck talking about sweat and I thought that Buck said “there’s no good place to jie off your hand”.

  6. Anonymous says:

Machado pronunciation keeps changing from Machado, Mochado, and Machada

  7. Anonymous says:

in the 4th after Navarro got hit by a foul ball, Buck was talking about another catcher who got hit by a “backSWUNG”.

Before the start of 6th, Buck and Pat were talking about your chances of getting a souvenir baseball from Brett Lawrie are increased if you wear a Jays jersey. Pat then said “wear a Lawrie Jersey” would give you a really good chance at getting Lawrie to throw you a baseball. How would Lawrie know that that the fan is a wearing a Lawrie Jersey when the name and number are on the back. And if you are showing your back to Lawrie, he can’t throw you a baseball.

“There is no free agent that is going to make you a contender player.” ????????

    “Whobaldo” Jimenz

In 6th, Lind hits a single off the outfield wall and Buck says “Markakis plays the wall very well”. So he picked up the wall and threw it back to the infield?

Buck is driving me nuts. In the top of the 6th, he was talking about some game that Hutchison started that went 12 innings. He kept rambling on about it but he never stops/pauses properly after any sentence.

Buck said that the head groundskeeper had a weather radar in her hand and there were thunderstorms in the area. I didn’t know that being a groundskeeper would qualify someone to be able to properly interpret a weather radar. Is the groundskeeper also a meteorologist? Most likely she had an internet connected device that gave a detailed weather forecast or it could have been a radio to communicate with some weather experts. I just find it highly unlikely that someone who is not an expert in weather would be able to use/or would be responsible for using a weather radar to make such a thunderstorm prediction.

Buck said that it was getting cooler and that was usually an indication of a thunderstorm coming. It’s always seemed to me that it gets hotter before a thunderstorm and cooler AFTER the thunderstorm. maybe buck means that the winds are picking up or that the air pressure is changing? I think that would make more sense.

In top of 8th, bautista at bat: After taking a pitch, I thought that Buck said “Bautista with a good chase, 3 and 1″.

  16. Luke says:

Top 9, 0 Out, Buck says the Vancouver Canadians are going for their 3rd consecutive Championship. They are 3-time defending champions and going for their 4th straight.
